Dualtron EY4 Display: Complete Setup and P-Settings Guide (2026)

The EY4 display is now standard on the newest Dualtron models — the Thunder 3, Victor 2026, and more. It's a significant step up from the old EY3: bigger screen, better readability in sunlight, IPX7 waterproofing, and full app integration. The catch? The P-settings menu is a wall of numbers and most riders have no idea what they do. This guide covers everything from first pairing to advanced P-settings adjustments.

First-Time Setup: Pairing the App

Before touching P-settings, get the app connected. Download the MiniMotors Dualtron app (iOS or Android). Power on your scooter and open the app. Tap the Bluetooth icon and select your scooter — it shows as "MM-[model]" followed by a number string. If pairing fails, make sure your phone's Bluetooth is not connected to other devices nearby. The EY4 uses Bluetooth 4.0 and can be knocked off by stronger signals.

Once paired, the app gives you access to: ODO, trip data, battery level, riding mode customisation, cruise control toggle, LED strip colour (if fitted), and live speed readout.

Display Navigation Basics

The EY4 has two buttons: power/mode (left) and light/lock (right). Short press left to cycle screens. Long press left to enter the settings menu. Short press right toggles the headlight. Long press right locks the scooter.

The main display shows: current speed, battery level, odometer, trip distance, and ride mode (ECO / DRIVE / SPORT). Swipe through screens in the app for granular battery data and motor current draw.

Understanding the P-Settings

The P-settings are the advanced configuration menu. Access them from the app under "Settings" → "Advanced" or hold the left button for 5 seconds and enter PIN 1234. The settings that matter:

P1 — Speed Limit: Sets the maximum speed in each mode. Raise P1 in SPORT mode to unlock full motor output. Changes your top speed cap — ride responsibly.

P2 — Acceleration Sensitivity: Controls throttle response. Higher = snappier. Lower = smoother for commuting. Most Thunder 3 and Victor riders set P2 to 3–4 for urban and 6–7 for open roads.

P3 — Regenerative Braking Strength: How hard the motor brakes when you release the throttle. P3 at 3–4 gives noticeable regen for city riding without being jarring. Disable (set to 0) on slippery surfaces.

P4 — Cruise Control Hold Time: How long you hold constant speed before cruise activates. Drop to 3 for faster cruise activation on long stretches.

P5 — Speedometer Calibration: Adjusts for different tyre sizes. Tweak P5 if your GPS speed does not match the display after a tyre upgrade.

P6 — Motor Current Limit: Sets peak current to the motor. Don't raise this unless you know exactly what you're doing — it directly affects motor and controller heat.

Recommended P-Settings by Riding Style

City commuter: P2 = 3, P3 = 4, P4 = 3. Smooth acceleration, strong regen, quick cruise activation.

Performance / open roads: P2 = 6, P3 = 2, P4 = 5. Fast throttle response, light regen for natural feel at speed.

New rider: P2 = 2, P3 = 3, limit SPORT mode via P1. The EY4 can be genuinely dangerous if a first-time rider opens full throttle on a high-power Dualtron.

Resetting to Factory Defaults

Hold both display buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds until the screen flashes. This resets all P-settings to factory values. You'll need to re-enter any customisations after this.

EY4 Display Upgrade Kit

If you're on a Dualtron made before 2024, the EY4 upgrade kit is the single best thing you can do to your cockpit. Includes the display, throttle, and wiring harness. Compatible with most Dualtron models. Available at CarbonRevo.
